10 $10M Rehab Ward opens at Brisbane Waters Private Hospital B U S I N E S S N E W S AUSTRALIA’S THIRD LARGEST corpo- rate private hospital operator, Healthe Care Australia has completed the expansion and refurbishment of the Brisbane Waters Private Hospital at Woy Woy with a new rehabilitation ward. The ward was officially opened in late March by Member for Robertson Lucy Wicks along with Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch. The new ward, which began construction in January 2017has been built at a cost of $10 million, includes 24 rehabilitation beds, a gym, hydrotherapy pool, and a separate entranceway and facilities for outpatients. The space also includes an impressive front reception area, office and administra- tion spaces, brand new kitchen, café and therapy gardens. “The Rehabilitation Ward was built under guidance of the Director of Rehabilitation, Associate Professor Michael Pollack by local builder Red Eye Constructions of Tumbi Umbi. Over 60 local contractors worked on the build including engineers and consultants. Healthe Care also owns Gosford Private Hospital which in recent years has under- gone extensive expansion. Brisbane Waters Private Hospital was established in 1978 by local doctors John, Paul and Peter Caska along with a local investors the late Les Walker and Susan Ivens It was subsequently acquired over the years by a succession of private hospi- tal operators. In 2015 Healthe Care was acquired by China’s Luye Medical Group from Archer Capital, a previous owner. Central Coast manufacturers are being encouraged to enter the 2018 Hunter Manufacturing Awards with nomina- tions opening on 12th April. Manufacturers from the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast can register and submit applications for this year’s awards. The Launch will be held on the premises of the 2017 Manufacturer of the Year, Varley Group at Tomago. Categories will cover a diverse range covering Innovation, Product Design, Manufacturing Process, Export, Safety, People & Skills Development, Rising Star Award, and Apprentice of the Year – Manufacturing, Environmental Excellence, Marketing, Technology, HMA Board Award and Manufacturer of the Year. This year’s Awards’ Event will be held on Friday, 19th October 2018 at NEX - Wests City and it promises to be a great celebration of our manufactur- ing sector.
