Repairing The Breach
One of the ongoing breaches in our journeys of faith is the disjunction between the culture we have become and the person of Jesus. We never get this right and I am sure that God never really expects that we will. But we must try. Lent allows us a yearly re-alignment, an opportunity to sit in this breach and determine how we’re going to close it, how we’re going to become more like the Jesus who was, “casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow” . Lent is a time of dis -comfort that allows us the chance to be gathered in by Christ and allowed a glimpse of the world as Christ sees it. Jesus became present in a broken (or breached) world and yet he did not flinch from what he saw. He loved it. Because he loved what he saw he chose to enact that love through a process of releasing the captives. This is the work of the church. This is the work of ABM. This is the work we share. This is the work of love. Foot-Washing - Carol Aust 59
