10 Healthy foods manufacturer, Activate Foods, is expanding and has leased a commercial kitchen in the premises formerly operated by Caesar’s Foods. Chef Marty Bowden and wife Megan established Activate Foods three years ago preparing fresh meals from their home kitchen and delivering to customers wanting to eat healthy. A classically trained chef who start- ed his career at the Fairmont Resort eighteen years ago and then gained experience in hotels, resorts and restaurants in Australia and overseas, Mr Bowden embarked on a lifestyle change to pursue his other passion as a personal trainer and CrossFit coach which bought him into con- tact with people who wanted to eat healthy food. The demand for their meals contin- ued to grow by word of mouth and now through social media. Their fresh and frozen paleo, gluten free, beef, chicken and lamb meals are now being delivered to custom- ers across the Central Coast, and to Newcastle and Sydney. For more information visit their website: www.activatefoods.com.au B U S I N E S S N E W S Early learning centre opens at Terrigal ONE OF THE Central Coast’s foremost property developers, the Brand Group, has moved into the pre-school industry with the opening of Sprout Early Learning Centre at Terrigal representing an invest- ment of $3.7 million. Located on a five hectare rural site on the corner of Serpentine and Erina Valley Roads the centre has a capacity of 121 places. The Centre is owned by Simone and David Brand with Mrs Brand being Centre Director. Mrs Brand has a long background in early learning, is a Bachelor of Education and has extensive training in pre-school operations having been involved in open- ing two other pre-schools and was formerly a teacher at Central Coast Grammar School. “Our philosophy is to provide a balanced holistic approach through nurturing and nat- ural curiosity for lifelong learning,” she said. Other features include an animal sanc- tuary with chickens, rabbits and minia- ture horse and as it backs onto a nature reserve nature walks will be part of the learning experience for the children. Also a purpose built yoga studio forms part of the centre for early childhood yoga with a specialist teacher. An in-house chef has also been employed. Kylie Cox has been appointed Centre Manager. She was formerly a teacher at Central Coast Grammar School. As the school year starts the Centre has achieved 75 enrolments and expects to be at full capacity by mid-2018.
