Working with Children Check (WWCC) – Time to Renew? All Catechist Teachers and Helpers are required to have a current and verified WWCC Number. Over the summer break: • Check the expiry date of your number • Renew up to three months ahead of time either online by visiting wwccheck.ocg.nsw.gov.au/Renew or in person at a Services NSW Centre • Importantly, email your renewal details directly to your Parish Secretary for submission to our Diocesan Safeguarding Team for verification Safeguarding Inservice • 6 February 2026 - Rosemeadow • 9 February 2026 - Wollongong All Catechist Teachers and Helpers need to update their training in Safeguarding and Classroom Management every three years. The important training will give you the skills to ensure a child-safe environment and includes simple and effective classroom strategies to give you confidence to manage situations and build healthy, strong student relationships. As the training is the first day of the Level 1 course, all participants are welcome to stay on to complete the course as a valuable refresher. Level 1 is offered face-to-face for 5 weeks in February at Wollongong and Rosemeadow for new catechists and as a refresher for current catechists. Level 1 is also offered in August via Zoom. Level 2 is offered face-to-face in both Wollongong and Rosemeadow over May. Our ever-popular Catechist Retreat will be offered in March in preparation for Easter.
