THE ORDER OF THE MASS CONCLUDING RI TES Immediately after the time of reflection, the celebrant invites us to stand whilst the Prayer after Communion is prayed. This draws to a close the Liturgy of the Mass. What remains is the dismissal. This is the sending forth with the Blessing of the Priest to carry on what we have begun at our Church gathering of the People of God. Celebrant: “Go forth, the Mass has ended.” We respond: “Thanks be to God.” The congregation is dismissed. Usually a hymn is sung as the Priest and assisting Ministers leave the gathering space. It is appropriate that we stay in the church until this group has left . We go away with happy hearts and rejoice because we have once again commemorated the Death and Resurrection of Jesus and celebrated the gift of Himself in the Eucharist – this is the nourishment our soul needs for the journey of the coming days.
