For people struggling with depression, it can feel like walking through mud every day. Gumboot Friday is a fun and meaningful way for Harcourts sales consultants and office staff to help raise money to provide free and timely counselling for any young person in need. Our children and young people are the future of our communities and our country. Mental health is a huge problem in New Zealand and one that has worsened as a result of the pandemic. Gumboot Friday is a national initiative that every Harcourts office and sales consultant can get in behind and help make a difference by providing desperately needed counselling for our young people. Here’s how it works: • Every Harcourts teammember has the opportunity to contribute, whether it’s $1 or $10, through auctions, sausage sizzles or a contribution from each property sale. • 100% of donations go directly towards paying for counselling for Kiwi kids and young people. • Kids (with the support of their adult supporters) can make an appointment directly with a counsellor or therapist that meets strict guidelines. Since April 2019, Gumboot Friday has raised over $3 million to provide free counselling for kids aged 5 – 25 years, with 16,000 sessions already provided to 3,900 kids. Gumboot Friday aims to provide an additional 20,000 free counselling sessions before the end of 2022.
