In late February we were confidently planning a year of club events and comps. Now our lives have turned upside down with COVID-19 and the important advice from health professionals and government on how we must slow the infection rate through social distancing, self isolation and most of all washing hands! Luckily for us there is the internet and we can all keep in touch remotely. Your enthusiastic and indefatigable FCC committee has put in place running presentation and competition nights using Zoom. Please check your emails for updates and instructions. Club nights will continue as usual on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. See the newsletter for the program of activities and instructions on how and when to send in your comp images. We will limit the competition to digital only for now (colour and mono, no subject) so please keep your images to the sizes indicated in the rules, and label accordingly. We hope you all will embrace the technology and zoom together! Thanks again to those who turned up to our March comp night – we had just over 20 attend with judge Craig Franke which was great. The upside to our social distancing strategies was that with 1.5 metres between the chairs it was actually so much easier for everyone to see the screen and lightbox! Maybe we should continue to do that once things get back to normal. Our new Zoom meetings may take a bit of tweaking the first couple of rounds but we’ll get there! In the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact me or any committee member if you have any concerns or if you have any great ideas about remote presentations. The club meets at 7.30pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month (except January) at the North Fremantle Community Hall: 4 Thompson Road, North Fremantle (Harvest Road end). See the map at the bottom of our home page: www. fremantlecameraclub.com. The first Tuesday is an educational evening and the third Tuesday is competition night. In addition there are social outings organised to improve and share our photography skills. See information in this month’s Freographic and on the website. Guests are always welcome.
