Feb 2021 FREO GRAPHIC CLUB OUTINGS 6 FCC Outing’s Our first outing for the year was at the indoor Speed Dome Cycling Track in Middle Swan. We entered to find steep banked curves and a few riders warming up in the centre for the main events. Having free reign to roam around the facility, focus very quickly changed to finding the best locations for those special shots. Most were trying for panning shots of riders and I think everyone agreed that it wasn’t as easy as we expected. Attaining the correct timing along with capturing a sharp photo proved difficult. The riders definitely start to pick up the pace once they are on the final leg. Manuel’s talk showed us how talented he is at sport photography and the cyclers weren’t going anywhere near as fast as the Formula 1 cars. The West Australian Camera Club were also in attendance on the night, of which a few have often taken photos at these events. Some of our members have said they would like to go again, to practice this style of photography. We will try to organise a night later in the year when the races are on again.
