Questions: Did you realise that the idea of Sabbath and Jubilee are linked? How might justice be part of the idea of ‘rest’? During Lent, it is important that we consider what part repentance – repentance that is active and tangible – might play in the bringing of peaceful (Sabbath) rest to our nation. What can we do to redress the injustice that causes conflict and is a roadblock to reconciliation and the resurrection of our country? How do you relate to the idea that the land owns us, rather than us owning the land? What difference might that make if we took it seriously? What might God’s ‘just Sabbath’ mean for the way we operate as a church and as a country? Is it difficult to imagine that we might achieve such a thing with God’s help? Why? Why not? 89
