14 Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club Inc. – 86th Annual Report – 2024-2025 Season Patrol 3 Another glorious season has come to a close for Patrol 3 at Burning Palms. As with most years, we saw many sides to our beach across the season. From paradise to paranormal, exquisite to extreme, from magic to mayhem. 2024/25 saw us close the beach twice and nearly lose the beach more than once. With a significant proportion of teenagers in our patrol we were challenged at times by lives full of competing priorities - like exams, partners, nights out, days out or days in front of the playstation..... leading to resources sometimes thin on the ground. I want to commend Adam, Bek and Paul for filling the breach on more than one occasion. Our patrol welcomed new award holders this year with Eliza Bearup reaching SRC and Sam Knight and Nicholas Swanson achieved their Bronze Medallion. We also had patrol members training for their IRB Crew certificate, Claire Dansie, Ruby James, Keira Bunt and Eloise Trickey. Again - a big thank you to Adam Dansie for encouraging the group work for their crew certification and providing the training, including building experience in some beautiful and challenging conditions. Thanks to a number of days where conditions did not encourage swimming the patrol was also able to hone some beach cricketing skills during the season. A big thanks to Gary Daly for helping out during the season and ensuring our skills were up to date. To Bek managing comms channels and ensuring everyone is capturing great content for the site. Thanks to Paul, Pete and the Committee for making sure everything gets done to keep the club running. And a big thanks to Marg for always helping me with patrol admin matters. And finally – Thank you to Patrol 3. We shared some great times in a special place. And no lives lost! See you next year. Brendan Watmore Patrol Captain Patrol 3
