To that end, I thank the members of the committee, Patrol Captains and our trainers who stepped up to ensure all of our members maintained their active status by ensuring that they completed their annual Skills Maintenance proficiency by December 31st last year. For some time now, annual skills maintenance has required members complete an online e-learning component before the practical component. Despite early advice, quite a number this year failed to do this in a timely manner further complicating the process and delaying the administration behind this activity. Again, for some unknown reason it seemed particularly challenging to close the practical component as well due to members not availing themselves of the published rostered proficiency dates or being otherwise busy. I take this opportunity to remind our members that those who assess proficiencies are volunteering to do this as an extra duty and therefore, for next season, please do not procrastinate when the opportunity presents and complete your skills maintenance during your rostered patrol! We do have additional challenges ie conditions, that impact which we can accommodate but when members fail to commit in a timely manner it places additional work on those who volunteer! As with all Clubs, we too have a dedicated and very capable instruction team, albeit small, and without their commitment to offering their time to instruct we would not continue to fill our patrol ranks every season. To that end, Gary Daly, Bruce Jarvis and Matt Brown please accept the gratitude of our Club for your continued support in providing instructional training to the above candidates, it is most appreciated.
