5 Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club Inc. – 86th Annual Report – 2024-2025 Season The Garie Road remains closed with repairs in progress, to open in late 2025. With the road closed we have to revert to Helicopter transport gear and equipment in and out. Appreciation is extended to Touchdown helicopters who continue to support Burning Palms and Era. Anzac Day was held with the flag lowered to half-mast by Peter Pearce OAM, the Ode recited by Scott Barwick, surrounded by, visitors and Patrol 2. Thank you to all for attending and your support. I would like to extend our appreciation to our Cabin and Surf Club Representatives, Stephen Strange OAM, Margaret Pearce, Jocelyn Jones, Bruce Jarvis and Martin Chafei who represent us on the Cabin Protection League and Cabins Consultative Group. We thank them for their interest and time in meeting regularly with the Park Management and in pushing our requirements. Thank you. The Committee has performed as expected, under President Dr Paul Cooper and Deputy President Margaret Pearce leading the team now reverted to bi-monthly meetings of face to face at the Maso’s and Teams. This seems accessible to all. I would also like to thank Surf Life Saving New South Wales, Steven Pearce AFM CEO, Peter Agnew AM ESM President, Board of Directors and Staff for their valued assistance. President Elissa Hancock and Directors of Surf Life Saving Sydney also Linda, Catherine and Mason, your assistance is appreciated. I congratulate and thank every one of our members who spent time on patrol, competing, being an Official, nurturing our Nippers, training new members, working around the Club and just being there when needed; you have all contributed to the success of the Club. This has been an overview of our performance this year which has been challenging but one we have pushed to have achievements and overcome the problems that faced us. On behalf of the Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club members I would like to thank our valued sponsors and financial contributors, without their assistance it would be difficult. We look forward to their support continuing. Next season we have a great deal of work to do, we need to improve our strategies in developing membership in both seniors and juniors and also focus again on awards and excite our members in surf sports which is part of being a Surf Lifesaver. Our challenges are: Further improve communications Attendance at work days RNP complete helicopter pad Hold club championships Work with Surf Life Saving Sydney on final plans at Heathcote SES facility.
