CA Fundamentals: Your career starts here. CA Fundamentals is a 12-month program designed to help you take your first step towards becoming a Chartered Accountant while gaining real-world experience. You’ll build a strong foundation in accounting, business, and professional skills through structured study, interactive workshops, and mentoring. Launch your career with confidence Application process Step 1) Explore: Learn more about the CA Fundamentals program and how it can help you take your first step toward becoming a Chartered Accountant. Step 2) Employment: Secure employment for an entry-level position with a CA ANZ approved employer. Step 3) Register: Once employed, you can register for CA Fundamentals through CA ANZ. Step 4) Begin learning: Attend your first workshop, start weekly study, and meet your mentor. These activities will help you build knowledge, develop skills and stay supported throughout your journey. Key dates CA Fundamentals has two intakes each year in February and June. Enrolments for each intake close two weeks prior to course commencement. Your path to becoming a CA CA Fundamentals is more than a program, it’s your first step on a professional pathway to becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA). Where it leads After completing CA Fundamentals, you’ll be eligible to apply for provisional membership with CA ANZ and progress into CA Foundations. From there, you’ll continue into the CA Program, where you’ll deepen your technical knowledge and professional skills. Completing the CA Program leads to full Chartered Accountant membership, opening doors to careers in public practice, business, government, and international accounting roles. Pathways to becoming a CA Program duration: 3 years CA Foundations CA Program 3 years Mentored Practical Experience 3 CA Fundamentals Program duration: 12 months Program Where you're at 1 High school graduate Work experience Accounting degree* 2 Non-accounting degree or TAFE/Polytech qualification Program duration: tailored 1 year work experience Experience * holds a CA ANZ accredited degree or non-accredited degree with sufficient coverage of required competencies that has been assessed by CA ANZ.
