2024-25 CENTRAL COAST INVESTMENT PROSPECTUS 26 Where to Invest – Industrial Areas CENTRAL COAST AIRPORT Central Coast Airport (CCA) is situated on a site of 44 hectares located on the south-west side of Sparks Road, Warnervale and 2.4 kilometres from the Sydney Newcastle M1 Motorway Warnervale Interchange. The airport site including the hangar / aero club area is zoned IN 1 Industrial. It is currently used for General Aviation activities, particularly for private and recreational ying, ight training and emergency services. CCA is home to the Central Coast Aero Club (CCAC), located east of the existing runway, which has been active for over 50 years at the airport. The Central Coast Aero Club won the prestigious 2022 Australian Aero Club of the Year Award for its innovations and support to the local Central Coast region and was one of the few businesses that prospered during the Covid pandemic era. The CCAC is a highly respected ight training organisation servicing Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter regions employing the most experienced instructors in the industry. In April 2024 Central Coast Council announced a Draft Central Coast Airport Masterplan that would enable development of the airport at Warnervale. This Masterplan informs the development of a Central Coast Aviation Hub to provide an integrated aviation, manufacturing, research and education precinct that encompasses the airport and surrounding lands compatibly zoned to complement the primary aviation usage. It says that the airport development will relieve general aviation demand and capacity constraints across the Greater Sydney Region by providing ongoing capacity and opportunities for the general aviation, corporate, business and training sectors. The strategic objective of the airport is to develop into a regional general aviation industry hub serving the Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter Regions. This objective is premised on the airport being developed as a: • key driver for regional economic development, • key driver for the generation of regional employment opportunities, particularly in the skilled, professional and technology-based sectors, • stimulus for regional investment, • stimulus for the tourist industry, • key regional infrastructure project, which will provide enhanced air transport options and improve the region’s economic competitiveness. It is proposed that the Central Coast Airport be developed as a Code 2B aerodrome with a runway length of 1,199m and take-o length of 1,030m. The Central Coast Aero Club has in hand between 40-50 applications from aircraft owners seeking hangarage, some from existing owners already located at the air eld with most wanting to relocate their aircraft to Central Coast Airport from Bankstown generally and other areas. The Aero Club will not be able to accommodate all of them, which means they immediately become customers of the Airport owner/management. It is understood there are dozens of expressions from businesses wanting to establish themselves at Warnervale. The development of the Central Coast Airport is strongly supported by the NSW Government and Minister for the Central Coast, The Hon. David Harris MP and Member for Wyong. After four years in Administration the Central Coast Council saw fteen Councillors elected with a majority voicing their support for the development of the Airport.
