The 5 Marks of Mission • Witness to Christ's saving, forgiving and reconciling love for all people • Build welcoming, transforming communities of faith • Stand in solidarity with the poor and needy • Challenge violence, injustice and oppression, and work for peace and reconciliation • Protect, care for and renew life on our planet (Anglican Board of Mission – Australia) The Marks of Mission were originally articulated at the Anglican Consultative Council in 1984 with updates in 1990 and 2012. They are not a final and complete statement on mission but they offer a practical guide to the holistic nature of mission. ABM has translated the Anglican Communion's official Marks of Mission (below) to adapt to our specific context. You might like to have a go at translating the Marks of Mission for your own particular context. The mission of the Church is the mission of Christ 1. To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom 2. To teach, baptise and nurture new believers 3. To respond to human need by loving service 4. To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation 5. To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth (Anglican Consultative Council) 129
