Koalas in the Noosa Region

Project requirements and considerations Restoration activities must occur in areas identified as koala habitat and within a koala corridor as mapped (see maps on page 11 and page 23). Restoration activities may include (funding origin dependent) – Revegetation works, improvements to existing koala habitat through the treatment of certain weeds; fire management activities that protect koala habitat, and fencing removal works to facilitate movement. At least 30% of the total species planted must consist of koalapreferred tree species. Restoration monitoring is required to track success. Projects that include the establishment of protection mechanisms such as a Voluntary Conservation Agreement (VCA) or Voluntary Declaration (VDec) under the Vegetation Management Act 1999 will be favourably viewed.
