Live Your Best Life

Kate’s interest in exercise started in her 40s when she was living remotely in Broken Hill, joining a local exercise group that met five mornings a week. Kate recalls becoming “very fit” and smiles, “I’ve been trying to get back to that ever since.” Now 69, Kate started attending her local gym a couple of years ago when she was having trouble with her hip and worked to strengthen it. Despite her best efforts she eventually needed a total hip replacement in 2023. With the guidance of a physio plan, Kate continues to attend the gym regularly, focused on building strength to support her mobility and enjoyment of the activities she loves from walking her dogs to working in the garden. Her goal is to maintain her mobility and strength into her dotage! Just as importantly, Kate loves the effect of getting up early and seeing the sunrise. “I feel strong, fit and happy after I’ve come to the gym, it’s a mood lifter.” For Kate, staying strong is about showing up, doing the work, and staying active in the life she enjoys every day. Staying strong is also important for Kate’s partner Jazz, who at 66 regularly attends bootcamp at the front of the gym. The perfect place to enjoy exercise and take in the beautiful beach and sunrises with like minded friends. TAREE OLD BAR SLSC GYM, JANUARY 2026 STAY STRONG Kate, 69 and Jazz, 66
