CO-CURRICULAR 144 ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE STRATHFIELD LUMEN 2024 BASKETBALL The 2023-2024 Basketball season saw our students let their light shine, building strong friendships and showing dedication for the game It was a successful season of basketball, and each team and coach should be proud of their efforts and continued drive to strive for the best. A big thank you to the coaches for their ongoing support of the boys, building positive relationships and fostering a positive culture during training and games. I would like to recognise the teams that made it to the semifinals this year: the 13 C, 13 A, 14 D, 14 C, 14 B, 15 B, 17 C, and First V teams. With the 14 Cs losing by just one point, and the 17 C, 14 D, and 13 C losing by a narrow four points, it was a tough fight and a great improvement across the season. A big congratulations to our three grand final winners: the 13 D, 17 B, and 17 D teams. Each of their final wins was impressive to say the least, with the 13 Ds winning by just one point, showing their continued determination, teamwork, and strength; and the 17 Ds remaining undefeated all season. It is difficult to choose key highlights across the season to recognise, given the many moments displayed on court. Nathan Kadi’s effortless shooting ability, Lincoln Milson’s continued joy whenever he is on the court, Nathan Devine’s powerful dunks, Nicholas Crisafulli’s quick dashes down the court, Ryan Grogan’s endless energy, Matthew Boys displaying his captaincy skills with his team both on and off the court, and the immense cheering in the SPC Gym during the Open B’s final game, were just a handful of the rewarding and memorable moments the season brought. I would like to make special mention of the First V team, who pushed themselves to improve every week and made me immensely proud in the way they supported each other and respected their coaches. I wish all our Year 12s good luck and all the very best in their future endeavours at the College and beyond. You are always welcome back here in the basketball fraternity. Thank you to all the parents who continually came out to support the College and their sons, including supporting on the bench at our home games in the gym and at the Auburn Basketball Centre. A final well done to all the students who consistently showed up, putting 100% effort into working with their coach and team, modelling good sportsmanship, diligence at training, and an overall passion for the sport. This is what really enables bonds to be formed, skills to be developed, and memories to be made. A final thank you to staff: Steve Fochesato, Anthony Calavassy, Sam Boggs, and Brett Davidson, for their continued support behind the scenes, which is often a thankless job but is pivotal in the running of the season.
