ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE STRATHFIELD LUMEN 2024 INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY 052 YEAR 9 COORDINATOR The Year 9 cohort of 2024 has demonstrated remarkable growth, maturity, and camaraderie throughout the year. With the central theme of Respect, Resilience, and Resolve, the students have consistently embodied these values both in and outside the classroom, while also focusing on Organisation, Ownership of actions, and taking all opportunities the College has to offer. This focus has resulted in a well-rounded and highly positive year for the boys, setting the stage for their continued success in the years to come. Respect has been at the core of the year’s learning. Whether interacting with peers, teachers, or members of the wider school community, the Year 9 boys have displayed a strong sense of consideration and understanding towards others. Through various classroom discussions, projects, and sports activities, they have shown respect for different perspectives, ideas, and cultures, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment in the College. Their respectful attitudes have also helped build stronger relationships with their teachers and each other. Resilience, a key skill honed during their Year 9 journey was most evidently put to the test during the Somerset Camp. This experience was a highlight of the year, pushing the boys out of their comfort zones and encouraging them to overcome physical and mental challenges. Whether it was conquering personal fears, collaborating with others during group tasks, or persisting through difficult activities, the camp served as a valuable learning experience, building the resilience that will serve them well in their future endeavours. Resolve has been another pillar of the year, particularly in the context of personal responsibility. The boys were encouraged to take ownership of their actions, not just academically but in all areas of school life. Throughout the year, they have been held accountable for their choices, learning valuable lessons in personal growth and responsibility. This resolve has been particularly evident as they managed their workloads, participated in co-curricular activities, and embraced leadership opportunities. In addition, they have made great strides in organisation, ensuring they were prepared for the challenges of the year, and seizing every opportunity the College presented. Whether it was in the classroom, on the sporting field, or in extra-curricular activities, they have shown dedication and enthusiasm. Overall, the Year 9 cohort of 2024 has been an outstanding group of young men. Their commitment to the themes of respect, resilience, and resolve, coupled with their growing sense of responsibility and organisation, has set them up for continued success in the years ahead.
