March/April 2024 Mid-Western Living | 19 KIRRILY DEAR Kirrily loves solving complex problems and adding value to peoples’ lives in the process. Tell us about Inside A Bold Mind. When the fear of failure is stopping you, Inside A Bold Mind helps you cultivate the courage to make bold moves. Individuals can access resources and workshops online, and organisations incorporate me into their leadership programs to eliminate the fear of failure as a hindrance to success. What makes your business unique? Me! Everything I share is drawn from my own lived experience. Look through my photo albums, and you’ll see three decades of groundbreaking achievements as an adventurer, extreme ultramarathoner, company director, and charity founder. What inspire you to start your business? Lots of phone calls. People were calling me when they had a secret ambition or a bold idea and were hesitating to get started. They’d ask me all sorts of questions about how I achieved things. So, I decided to start blogging about what I know as a “retirement” project and it’s grown from there. Everything that I’m working on ties back to helping people learn to 100% trust themselves, trust their capacity to learn, and find solutions and trust their ability to manage risks. The problem I’m working on in my mind is finding ways to do that at scale and levelling the playing field so that everyone can 100% trust themselves. Best piece of business advice you’ve ever received? Work with what you’ve got. This was dished out to me by a CEO during a high pressure moment when I was 27. I was about to have a total meltdown because everything was going wrong and I was about to end up losing face in front of an important crowd. When he said those words, I regained focus and delivered. I’ve reused it countless times since. What is your personal definition of success? The size of the smile on my face, the delicious food in my belly, the rich relationships in my life - and the love of a dog. What’s your most memorable business moment? Probably having the guts to start my first business. That took a lot. My former boss said I would fail within two years. A big part of my mind believed him. That was 25 years ago, it didn’t and I didn’t. What do you love about doing business in Mudgee? The thriving and diverse economy - we are truly lucky to live on a farm neighbouring an incredible wine region, within a stone’s throw of Sydney and with a diversity of thriving businesses on our doorstep. ___ @insideaboldmind insideaboldmind.com
