Mid Western Living

March/April 2024 Mid-Western Living | 27 As the leaves begin to paint our beautiful town in warm hues of red, orange, and gold, it’s time to re-inspire our wardrobes with the eternal charm of autumn fashion. This season, we look to soft fabrics, enveloping silhouettes and layered looks to infuse our outfits with the chic embrace of timeless styles, as well as looking to trending textures and shapes to bring the looks into the current fashion landscape. This season, I’ve noticed a big shift as people are increasingly prioritising high-quality and long-lasting fabrics such as cashmere, wool and linen and steering away from poly-based materials typically used in fast fashion garments. While these clothes tend to be more expensive, we like to think of them as investment pieces! If you buy well, you only have to buy once (in a while). Just as if you’re going for a hike - light layers add depth and interest to any outift. Don’t forget - accessories can totally be part of that layering! When you’re mixing hues, try to keep it tonal and then for a pop colour, try the opposite to whatever hue you’ve chosen. For example if you’re outift is in the olive green realm, a yellow bag would look so chic!
