March/April 2024 Mid-Western Living | 39 IN THE COMMUNITY 2024 Mudgee Classic Thousands of cyclists are currently preparing to pedal their way through the picturesque landscapes of NSW wine country at the 2024 Mudgee Classic, set to return to the our region for the fourth year on the weekend 4-5 May. After a successful inaugural year in 2023, the Dirty Mudgee Gravel Ride will return on Saturday, 4 May 2024. The specially chosen gravel course showcases Mudgee’s spectacular rural scenery, the region’s impressive vineyards. On Sunday 5 May 2024, the road cycling event will start with a bang as riders depart from Church St, Mudgee and complete one of four courses ranging from 35km to 170km. All courses showcase the best of the Mudgee region, extending from Mudgee to Cooyal, Ulan, iconic Gulgong and back through the Finish Line at Glen Willow Sports Complex. The hub of the weekend will be at the Event Village at the expansive Glen Willow Sports Complex which will be open from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May. All are welcome to come down and experience the atmosphere of a cycling Gran Fondo. There will be live music, a bar, food trucks, exhibitor stalls and children’s activities. There will be limited road closures in Mudgee CBD and changed traffic conditions in Gulgong on Sunday, 5 May. Full details are available online at www.mudgeeclassic.com.au/community. As well as displays of art and crafts from some of the U3A classes, there were demos from the Line Dancing and Tai Chi groups and a performance from the U3A women’s choir, Cantobella.
