The region’s population has grown from 330,377 in 2014. Age groups In terms of age groups 21.6% of the population are aged 0-17 years, 49.7% are aged 18-59 years and over 60s make up 28.7% of the population compared with NSW 27.1%. Income On the Central Coast the median weekly household income in 2021 was $1,534 compared with $1,849 for NSW. Those earning more than $2,000 per week accounted for 9.7% of the working age population (15+) while 33.5% earned less than $500 per week. Housing tenure Of the 138,170 households, 46,044 were fully owned, and 45,024 were being bought. The median weekly mortgage repayment was $461 per week compared with $1,849 for NSW ECONOMIC PROFILE Gross Regional Product For the 2023/24 Financial Year Gross Regional Product on the Central Coast was $20,800 million. In the years 2001 to 2015 GRP flatlined at just under $15,000 million and, except for 2020, has been steadily rising since. Local employment In the year ending 30th June 2024 there were 141,881 people employed on the Central Coast. This is an increase of 12,591 people in the five years from 2018/19.
