Camels are used to move and carry the entire camp & luggage, which also means you get to areas that vehicles cannot reach. Walking safaris are great for viewing dramatic landscapes, up close wildlife and local culture with walks being approximately 10-15 kms daily. DAY 1: NAYASURA Fly from Wilson airport to Nanyuki. On arrival transfer to the mobile-tented camp in Nayasura where you are greeted by a team of Laikipia Masai and Samburu staff. Head out on your first walk looking for wildlife. Back at camp, enjoy hot showers and drinks around the fire and dinner under the stars. Mobile Tented Camp (BLD) DAY 2: NYARARA From Nayasura, depart early to see as much game as possible on our walk north towards Nyarara Camp. Nyarara means cheetah in Masai and the camp was given this name because of a large male that has been seen in the area. Walk across large plains as well as mixed bush looking for herds of zebra, oryx and Grant’s gazelle on the large plains. The pack camels with our camp will take a more direct route to arrive and set up the camp before our arrival. Arrive at camp in time for lunch. Mobile Tented Camp (BLD) DAY 3: TUMAREN EWASO CAMP Head down toward the Ewaso Nyiro River, which runs along the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau and then toward Samburu National Reserve. Along the way we will be looking for Eland, Steinbuck and Giraffe and enjoying the changing scenery. After lunch we visit a local manyatta and watch the livestock coming in as we enjoy a sundowner. Mobile Tented Camp (BLD) DAY 4: DEPART After a morning walk and breakfast transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson. DAYS 1/2/3: SASAAB, SAMBURU. Transfer by air from Nairobi to Samburu. On arrival you will be taken to the lodge in time for a late lunch. Sasaab Lodge (BLD) DAYS 4/5/6: SALA’S CAMP, MASAI MARA Depart to Nanyuki for a flight to the Masai Mara and head to your camp with a small game drive enroute. Sala’s Camp is situated in the southern area of the Mara, near the border of the Serengeti in Tanzania. The camp offers a traditional safari-under-canvas experience. Each tent has ensuite canvas bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. Explore the Masai Mara on spectacular game drives arranged early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Sala’s Camp (BLD) DAY 7: GIRAFFE MANOR, NAIROBI Fly to Wilson Airport then on to Giraffe Manor., an exclusive boutique hotel, reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. Giraffe Manor is set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest. Giraffe Manor is The sanctuary surrounding the manor is home to Rothschild Giraffes who frequently visit the hotel in order to assess any newcomers.
