Central Coast NSW - A Snapshot RECORD INVESTMENT Who is investing in the region? The Central Coast and in particular Gosford City is experiencing an unprecedented investment boom as investors, property developers and businesses looking to relocate from Sydney see the benefits that the region has to offer in terms of growth and security. At the same time the NSW Government is spending over a billion dollars on infrastructure projects in the region. Commercial and Industrial investments Sara Lee Global bakery brand, Sara Lee, opened its Australian facility at Lisarow near Gosford in 1971. Owned by McCain Foods since 1999, the company has invested $40 million in new technology and plant over the past five years. In September 2021 New Zealand investment company, The South Island Office Limited (SIO) acquired Sara Lee Australia and New Zealand Pty Ltd from McCain Foods. Earlier in the year SIO had acquired New Zealand bakery company Original Foods Baking Co. Hawkesbury Brewing Co Pty Ltd (ABC Filling) Hawkesbury Brewing Co, a subsidiary of ABC Filling consolidated their production facilities to new premises at Lisarow Business Park in 2021. ABC manufactures Australian alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at the new plant employing 144 full time staff. The facility includes: new food and beverage manufacturing plant, research laboratory, distribution centre, a restaurant and bar, brewery tours, education facilities, conference centre CSR Hebel CSR Hebel is Australia’s leading manufacturer of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) and is located in the Somersby Industrial Estate having established the first AAC production facility in Australia in 1990. Owned by CSR Limited, CSR Hebel in 2020 completed a $75 million expansion of their Somersby operation with a new 10,000 sqm factory building and installation of the world’s most advanced and highly automated leading edge equipment in mid-2019. Henry Kendall Group The Henry Kendall Group have over 60 years’ experience in property development and are developing the Golflinks Commercial Campus which comprises 14 hectares of land on the Pacific Highway opposite the Wyong Golf Course adjacent to the industrial area. The centerpiece of this Campus is Nexus Smart Hub, a next generation workspace combining 3,000 sqm of the best of serviced offices and co-working facilities in the region. Nexus offers 10 gigabytes of broadband connectivity – this world class hyper-fast, reliable and secure enterprise grade solution is a first of its kind on the Central Coast. Gibbens Group Central Coast property developer Gibbens Group are developing a $26 million 4-storey office building at North Wyong Industrial Estate for ING Bank to accommodate a call centre for ING Direct. The site on which the ING development is located covers 8.26 Ha and comprises a number of industrial buildings known as Wyong Business Park owned by the Gibbens Group. Over the past five years Gibbens Group have redeveloped a 24,000 sqm industrial site at Lisarow. Now known as Lisarow Business Park the site consisting of industrial and retail tenants, self storage and an Enterprise Centre with 50 commercial/industrial unit. Healthe Care Australia Healthe Care Australia is the third largest private hospital operator in Australia. Healthe Care operates Gosford Private Hospital, Brisbane Waters Private Hospital and Tuggerah Lakes Private hospital. In 2018 the company completed a $10 million expansion and refurbishment of their Brisbane Waters Private Hospital at Woy Woy. In 2018 invested $23 million in a new hospital, Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital at Kanwal. In September 2021 Healthe Care completed a significant $32 million expansion of Gosford Private Hospital Borg Manufacturing Pty Ltd Borg Manufacturing is a leading Australian manufacturer of melamine panels and components for all joinery applications. A Central Coast family owned company Borg was established at Charmhaven in 1991.In 2000 it opened its first facility at Somersby and has since expanded into a multi-million investment on multiple sites.The company employs over 2,000 staff nationally and 850 on the Central Coast. In a further move to expand their manufacturing and related business activities, Borg have acquired a 10.7 hectare site at Somersby adjacent to their national head office for an additional $20 million facility. Central Coast Grammar School Central Coast Grammar School at Erina Heights, the region’s premier school and home to 1385 boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 12, has invested over $40 million in learning infrastructure during the last five years. This includes: New kindergarten to Year 6 Junior School, grandstand and sporting facilities. New Senior College and learning spaces have been extended and refurbished across the school completed in early 2021 and Performing Arts Centre. St Hilliers St Hilliers is one of Australia’s leading private, integrated property and construction groups is developing a 1.13 hectares site in Gosford CBD overlooking Brisbane Water. In late 2018 St Hilliers completed the first stage of the redevelopment of site now known as Central Coast Quarter with the construction of a 7-level $50 million commercial building for the NSW Department of Financial Services.
