I went back for an MRI and found that my knees hadn’t deteriorated at all over that year so I committed (to the record attempt) that day.” The record attempt wasn’t without its challenges. “The week leading in we found that the lambs weren’t of record quality. The season had turned dry early and there was a lot of dust in them. It significantly worked against me.” Despite this, Nikki broke new ground in the industry and claimed a world record with Dwayne Black as her shearing coach on the day. Nikki is now back in training, hoping to attempt another world record within the next year. “I really enjoy shearing Merino lambs.
