TOP SIRE 2025–2026 NSW SHOW AND SALE RESULTS The March Shorn Pair was awarded to Terrick West, Prairie, VIC. Judges described the champion pair as being outstanding, noting the squareness and quality of wool, which placed them first. In second place was Towonga, Peak Hill, and Tara Park, Boorowa, in third. NSW STATE FLOCK EWE COMPETITION FINAL The 2024 Rabobank National Merino Show saw the return of a flock ewe competition, which has been absent from the schedule for a decade. The NSW State Flock Ewe Competition Final was hosted by the Dubbo National Ram Sale Association in a bid to encourage commercial producers to attend the event and give them a chance to promote themselves. “It’s to get more flock people to the show so it’s not just a stud show – it’s also for the commercial breeders,” organiser and Dubbo National Ram Sale Association President, Garry Kopp, said. The competition was well supported by 11 flock ewe teams from producers across the state, many of whom had placed top of their local competitions. Judging the competition were Nigel Brumpton, Mt Ascot, Mitchell, QLD; Rod Miller, Glenpaen, Brimpaen, VIC, and Tony Brooks, Collinsville, Hallet, SA. Claiming the overall champion title was Ian and Nick Westcott, “Inglenook”, Peak Hill, who had won the Parkes Merino Ewe Competition before being placed as runner up in the Central West Maiden Merino Ewe Competition. They displayed a pen of May/June 2023-drop Overland-blood ewes that also won the Champion Medium/Strong title. The reserve Medium/Strong pen was awarded to the Crouch family, Karu Pastoral, Condobolin, who had placed first in the Central West competition. They displayed a pen of April/May 2022-drop ewes and were awarded Champion Flock Ewe for one stand-out in their pen. A pen of Egelabra, Langdene and Dunbogan-blood ewes exhibited by G.W. Welsh Pty Ltd, “Womboin”, The Marra, was awarded the Champion Superfine/Fine exhibit, while reserve was awarded to Shannon Arnall, “Carinya”, Laggan, for his Thalabah-blood ewes. The Champion Short Wool Flock was awarded to James Burge, Burge Ag, Cootamundra, who had won the Cootamundra Show Society Maiden Merino Ewe Competition. – 69 – Conrayn Merino Stud ANNUAL RAM SALE Wednesday 22 Oct 2025 See us at: Australian Sheep and Wool Show, 2025 South West Slopes Field Day, 2025 Great Southern Supreme Merino, 2026 Sydney Royal Easter Show, 2026 Peter, Jayne, Cade & Jamie Lette - (02) 6456 3034 or 0409 916 117 Sydney Royal Easter Show 2025, Stonehaven Cup, RAS Merino Pair of the Year, Grand Champion Ultrafine Ram & Ewe, Grand Champion Superfine Ewe
