Raine and Horne

A Global Force: Taking the Super Brand to New Markets ROM A SMALL OFFICE in Sydney to an international network, expansion has always underpinned the success of Raine & Horne. Since the 1980s the firm has taken its expertise to the world, exploring new, high growth markets with a particular interest in Asia, the Pacific Rim and the Middle East. In 2023, in Raine & Horne’s 140th year, the international expansion extended across the Tasman Sea and into New Zealand, a land, not even the daring voyager Captain Thomas Raine could claim to have seen. A bold strategy Under the leadership of Max Raine, the 1980s saw rapid expansion of the network across Australia. But the power of franchising had the potential to take the firm much further, and in 1989 Raine & Horne created its first offshore footprint with a network of offices in Malaysia under the leadership of Sr. Dato’ Zaki Hj Said. Today, 12 offices operate across the Malay Peninsula including two in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, three offices in Subang Jaya, Kelang, Balakong, Seremban, Kuantan Pahang and two more offices in George Town in Penang. Driving strategic Middle Eastern markets Following an increase in cross-border property transactions, global expansion was ramped up a notch with the establishment of a new international arm of the business in the Middle East. In 2015, the firm opened its first office in Dubai, located in the Business Bay district in the shadow of Burj Khalifa. It was a move that followed extensive planning. Angus Raine visited the Middle East in 2015 as part of a business delegation hosted by the Hon. Andrew Robb, then Commonwealth Minister for Trade and Investment. It was a whistle-stop tour of key Middle Eastern markets, and Angus’ decision to join the delegation was two-fold. Firstly to spread the firm’s message globally, and secondly, to shine a spotlight on the long term benefits for investors from the Middle East of buying commercial and residential property in Australia. In 2021, Raine & Horne launched a second office in Dubai in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) currently the second most popular holiday hotspot for visitor numbers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after Dubai. As such, the new office will provide a full range of property services including holiday rentals. As part of the launch, the Raine & Horne office in Ras Al Khaimah partnered with RAK Properties to launch a holiday home offering for properties located on the beautiful waterfront community of Mina Al Arab.
