Raine and Horne

Angus Raine: New Century, New Leader An agency system called ‘ProcessPlus’ was launched in 2021. An end-to-end process for all agents to use, it takes them from prospecting through to sale, creating the Raine & Horne minimum standards of service. Amplify, DigiKitPlus and ProcessPlus were part of a raft of initiatives driven by Angus, which have also included a major expansion of Raine & Horne Commercial and Raine & Horne Rural. Moreover, his visionary leadership led to the establishment of new office networks in India and New Zealand. A seamless transition It is a measure of the passage of time that in 2011 Angus took over from his father Max as the patriarch of the company, taking on the role of Executive Chairman. It marked a momentous changing of the guard though as Angus notes, Max continued to have an office at Raine & Horne’s corporate offices in Sydney until 2015. Aptly timed during the same period as Angus’ takeover, in 2012 the Raine and Horne group were inducted into Family Business Australia’s inaugural Hall of Fame. An event celebrating the outstanding contribution that family businesses make to NSW’s economy, community and culture, Angus said Raine & Horne was humbled to be recognised as a champion for family-owned business. “My father adopted the franchising model in 1976, and from this point forward, Raine & Horne has gone from strength to strength, so a large part of this award is dedicated to his tireless efforts,” he said at the glittering event. The milestones continue In 2013, just over twelve months after taking on leadership of Raine & Horne, Angus was among those who celebrated Raine & Horne’s 130-year anniversary. It is a milestone few family businesses will ever achieve. Even fewer will have a fourth generation family member at the helm. At the 2013 Raine & Horne National Conference held on the Gold Coast, Angus spoke with immense pride about his firm’s extraordinary legacy: “I’m sure you are well aware we are celebrating 130 magnificent years helping Australians sell, buy, invest, manage and rent property. “We have travelled a long way since 1883, when real estate pioneers Tom Raine, my great grandfather, and Joseph Horne, opened the doors of Raine & Horne’s very first office in Elizabeth Street, Sydney.
