Raine and Horne

Two factors have underpinned our success. The first is Raine & Horne’s willingness to embrace innovation. We don’t follow the trend. We set the trend. Angus Raine The Brits may have the BAFTAs, in the US they have the Oscars, but this is Raine & Horne’s night of nights – a chance for all of us to come together to celebrate success. Nearly 450 people are here tonight!!! And what successes we’ve had! I’m not about to give away any spoilers but the contenders for tonight’s awards have all notched up impressive achievements through their skill, dedication and passion – qualities that are all hallmarks of the Raine & Horne brand. This year’s awards are particularly special because in 2023 Raine & Horne celebrates a significant milestone – our 140th anniversary. It is truly remarkable to consider that it was back on 23 May 1883 that real estate pioneers – my great grandfather Thomas Raine and Joseph Horne, first established the Raine & Horne brand. The business has come a long way. We have survived when many others failed, navigating some of the most significant economic downturns the world has ever seen including the Great Depression and the global financial crisis. We have made it through two world wars, outlived six British monarchs and countless Australian prime ministers – and successfully forged a path through two global pandemics. From humble beginnings in a small office in Sydney’s Elizabeth Street, Raine & Horne now has 300 offices across the globe. That figure continues to grow – this quarter we have opened 8 new offices and are opening 4 offices before Easter, who are joining us from rival networks!!! We plan to have 20 offices ‘across the ditch’ before Christmas. Over 3,000 people around the world are part of the Raine & Horne family, and together, in 2022 we sold $10 billion worth of real estate, and managed over 120,000 properties. It’s quite an achievement – and there is no other family-owned business in Australia I’m aware of that has combined such a longlasting legacy with such impressive national and international expansion. Two factors have underpinned our success. The first is Raine & Horne’s willingness to embrace innovation. We don’t follow the trend. We set the trend. Over 50 years ago, my father Max recognised the need for corporate expansion, and opened the first of Raine & Horne’s many suburban branches in Sydney’s Double Bay in the late 1960s. This was followed in the 70s by Max pioneering new possibilities for growth with the revolutionary new business model of franchising. Over the years we have not stopped innovating. Today’s vast Raine & Horne family have tools at their disposal that Thomas, Joseph – and even Max – could only have dreamed of. We have harnessed best of breed technology through tools like DigiKitPlus and our powerful advanced digital marketing platform Amplify. We have invested in an impressive technology ecosystem of firsts including CompassPlus, ProcessPlus and DesignPlus – and our R&Home platform has recorded close to 900,000 logins – along with CANVA Lookbook. We are connecting with more property buyers than ever before through digital channels. To date we have notched up over 27 million impressions on social media. The Raine & Horne website receives over 1.4 million page reviews per month. You should all be very proud of the Raine & Horne Foundation, which has raised nearly $500,000 over the last couple of years. It’s all of you – it’s our people. But there is another factor that has always been – and will always be – at the forefront of Raine & Horne’s success. And that is our people. Let me congratulate the winners – it takes consistent passion and drive to win these awards, and you set an outstanding example of what the Raine & Horne brand is all about. I have every certainty that my father is watching tonight – albeit from a higher vantage point, and feeling very confident that the strength of our people will see the Raine & Horne brand grow and grow and thrive long into the future. 73
