34 | WATERLINE September 2026 MARINAS28 HEADS TO THE BANKS OF THE BRISBANE RIVER THE STAR AT QUEEN’S WHARF CONFIRMED AS THE VENUE The Asia-Pacific's premier marina industry conference returns to Brisbane, host city of the 2032 Olympics, with delegates again able to take in the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show beforehand. Marinas28, the Marina Industries Association's flagship international conference and trade exhibition, will return to Brisbane for its 2028 edition, running from Sunday 28 to Tuesday 30 May — immediately after the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The pairing lets delegates enjoy the region's premier marine lifestyle event before arriving in Brisbane for the traditional Marinas28 Welcome Reception, making it the most popular marina trade event on the Asia-Pacific calendar. QUEEN’S WHARF: BRISBANE’S NEWEST WATERSIDE PRECINCT Marinas28 will be held at The Star Brisbane's purpose-built Event Centre in the Queen's Wharf precinct, overlooking the river towards South Bank — a shift from Marinas24's Fortitude Valley and Howard Smith Wharves base to Brisbane's newest entertainment precinct. It's the centrepiece of the $3.6 billion Queen's Wharf redevelopment, combining a state-of-the-art event centre, the CBD's largest ballroom, luxury accommodation at The Star Grand, and more than 50 restaurants and bars within walking distance of South Bank and the CBD. BRISBANE: A CITY ON THE RISE Brisbane's selection reflects the city's rising international profile ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with major investment already reshaping its infrastructure and hospitality scene. Its compact, walkable riverside CBD, subtropical climate and easy access to Moreton Bay and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts make it a natural fit for an international marina industry audience. “Marinas28 gives us the chance to bring our members and international guests back to a city they really enjoyed, but to a completely different part of it,” says Suzanne Davies, CEO of the Marina Industries Association. “The Star Brisbane offers the largest conferencing facilities in the city, with a huge array of dining, retail and riverside options right on our doorstep.” “Our members told us how much they valued Marinas24 in Brisbane, and Marinas28 builds on that success while giving delegates a fresh reason to come back,” adds Andrew Chapman AM CMM, President of the Marina Industries Association. GET READY! Marinas28 opens with the Certified Marina Manager meeting and a Welcome Reception overlooking South Bank on the Sunday evening. The biennial event typically draws more than 400 delegates, alongside a trade exhibition of the latest marina, club and boatyard products. Registration and exhibition details will be released in December; early interest can be registered at exhibition@marinas28.com. MARINAS28
