Repairing The Breach
In Christ we come to realise that nothing else, no one else, can give us life to the full, the abundant and grace-filled, exuberant life that comes when we encounter Jesus. This is what is meant when we say that wilderness is always the context for salvation, and that the content of salvation is always Jesus. “When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honour them” (Ps 91:15). And in Lent each year, we are invited to remember this famished One in a famished placed, to remember this Jesus, who on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, broke it and said, “This is my body broken for you…” Amen.
