the finest local, national and international acts, both established
and yet-undiscovered.
West End’s parks, character homes, heritage-listed halls and reclaimed
industrial spaces are now home to a gamut of cultural organisations
and events, including the Queensland Ballet at Thomas Dixon Centre
and an ever-growing list of local community events and festivals.
But it’s in the streets where the West End comes alive. Antique
bookstores, thrift shops, fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants offer
endless distractions, while the Davies Park markets, one of the largest
in Brisbane, provides an eclectic mix of farm-fresh produce, bric-a-brac
and live entertainment.
Everywhere you look, there’s always something new and different to see
and experience, from quirky buskers to hidden-away cafés and specialty
stores. West End has somehow bred into itself an ever-changing social
and cultural atmosphere of diversity, imagination and creativity.
