To exclude the possibility of septicaemia
1 x set of blood culture bottles: both aerobic and anaerobic.
Using a butterfly scalp vein needle only add 8-10 mLs blood
to each bottle (do not overfill). Collect aerobic bottle first and
mix gently by inverting the bottles 8-10 times.

filled with 1-4 mLs of blood
