15 INSIDE Harcourts With the introduction of somuch new legislation, a tightening rental market inmany parts of the country and the challenges presented by Covid-19, we would have liked every one of our propertymanagers to receive an award for the incredible work they did over the past financial year. Congratulations to Sarah Chaplin at Harcourts Vision, winner of the Top National Property Manager Award. “This awardwas something that we have beenworking on for a number of years”, says Sarah. “Towin it in what has been a really interesting year hasmade achieving that goal even better. Harcourts Property Management Operations Manager for NewZealand, Jodine Clark, is one of sevenmembers of the Residential Property Management Sector Group Committee whosemembersmeet regularly and communicate the unique needs of the residential propertymanagement sector to the REINZ board. They are integral in informing newpolicy, assisting in development of resources including education and events at local and national level. Harcourts is awidely recognised brand throughout NewZealand. Whenever I thought of real estate, Harcourts was always the first brand that came to mind. 2. What is your favourite thing about being aHarcourts team member? I thrive on competition. I amalways looking at ways to bettermyself both personally and professionally. WithHarcourts being local, regional, national and international – there’s always a goal towork towards. It’s great to be competingwith other Harcourts colleagues who are the best in the business. 3. What do you enjoymost about being in the real estate industry? Real estate isn’t a job or a career, it becomes your way of life. Every day is different. Every day is exciting. You get tomeet newpeople, and it’s still as fulfilling as ever to helpmy clients get to their next real estate step and reach their goals. I amoften happier thanmy clients when I sell a property for bigmoney! 4. What is yourmostmemorable careermoment to date? Recently being awarded the #1 National Sales Consultant for Total Units Sold at our annual awards. This was very unexpected. 5. What advicewould you offer to people new to the industry? There is no big secret to success. If youwork hard – youwill get the results. I’mextremely big on goals and have a tick box list onmy phone. It keepsmemotivated and focused. 6. What activities have led to your success? Network, network, network. Be an opportunist. Any opportunity you get – take it. I’m big onmarketing and investing inmy brand. 7. What is your secret tomaintaining a strong relationship with clients? Dedication and knowledge are the two essential ingredients to establishing strong client relationships. If you knowyourmarketplace, you build credibility. Add value to the transaction and give advice – people like to deal with people that genuinely care. 8. Howdo you distinguish yourself fromthe crowd? Sellers want to knowwhat your ‘value add’ is – theywant to know why they should list with you over other competitors in the marketplace. Locally, I sell more homes than any other agent in mymarketplace. I’ve implemented systems and databases to ensure I marketmy listings to larger audiences. Work out your angle and gowith it! 9. What do you dowith your time off? I'ma shopaholic. An ideal day offwould be heading up to Auckland shopping. I enjoy eating out, trying new restaurants and travelling – I can’t wait to be able to go on a decent trip.
