30 INSIDE Harcourts In the thick of the pandemic, trapped in our homes, we talked about little else. Nowback in our offices and regular work hours, on the surface, wemay lookmore like the old ‘normal’, yet a deeper dive reveals how tough it still is for people. Well-being is nownumber one when it comes to recruitment and retention. Salary, personal growth, career opportunity and trendy work environments now rated considerably lower. Even in our industry we have never seen such large numbers of teammovement and turnover. So I askmyself; What canwe do to help our people right now? What didwe have in place whenwell-being was our focus? What have we currently got that we could utilise again? WELL BEINGCONCERN Ill health, fatigue, uncertainty, disillusionment are toxically contagious. Maintaining a healthy team culture is critical and the responsibility of all. What We Have toHelp • Let’s showup to recognition events and HX as a united team. • Each quarter plan for fun and teambuilding - Ask us about our culture counts programwith lots of ideas. • Give back and get involved in Harcourts Foundation giving back days. Avoiding stress in theworkplace, whether seen as lazy or just re-prioritising, the impact is a declining amount of work output. What We Have toHelp Performancemanagement is critical. Monthly one on onemeetings of support. Quarterly business plan reviews with individual accountability. Help our people to feel they are growing not stressed. Challenged not overworked. Eachmember of your teamshould have a Harcourts IDP in place or areas of growth identified for the year. WELL BEINGCONCERN Mental Health is now the primary cause of chronic illness. Our leaders and business owners are challenged by absent teammembers unwell or unmotivated. Add to this that the baby boomer age bracket group, the largest number of people in theworkforce, are now retiring! What We Have toHelp Our leaders need helpmanaging their ownwell-being and need business structures in place that allow themdown time to recharge. We need to re-invigorate our Harcourts Future Leaders program to develop teammembers flagged for leadership succession. • Recordedwebinars for leaders - Leadership: Building a Culture of Care https://vimeo.com/582291610/1dca27ce53 • Graeme Cowan Follow-up Videos (These are related to the above Leadership video) - What is your one thing?: https://vimeo.com/160027717/07abc41a89 - Green zone boost tips: https://vimeo.com/188090659/0320cad859 - RUOK?: https://vimeo.com/172068359/2eededa41c The Magic Is in The Mindset Scan here to access the full ‘TheMagic is in theMindset’ toolkit 1 3 5 2 4 6 Does anybody else feel like the focus on well-being has dropped down the list of priorities?
