April 9th - April 22nd

mep’s men win the

world cup semi final

narrabri’s luke meppem and entourage’s support was

undeniably the key in australia’s victory over india

at the cricket world cup semi final at the scg...

Luke Meppem

World Cup Semi highlights?

Steve Smith’s fantastic hundred

and Maxwell’s quick fire twenty

odd... and just the electric atmos-

phere at the ground.

How was the 80% Indian crowd?

Fantastic. They added all of the

atmosphere. And after the game

they congratulated us like we’d

won the game.

Other highlights of the tour?

It’s

hard to pick really. The two NRL

matches we watched were great

games. It was just a great weekend

all round with the boys.

Lowlight of the tour?

The drive

home. There were plenty of pit

stops but I won’t go into that.

What would you do differently

next trip?

Probably fly rather than

drive. And not rely on buses.

Jason Duff

World Cup Semi highlights?

Probably the crowd and the fact

that the Aussies won. Steve Smiths

batting was another highlight.

How was the 80% Indian crowd?

Good sports. And they let me have

a go on their bongo drums. At one

Shane Smith, Scott Trindall, Luke Meppem, Craig Trindall, Pat

Legg and Jason Duff were well and truly outnumbered, but held

their own against 40,000 Indian supporters.

When in Sydney,

Mep’s Men recommend Duffy’s Supermarket for all your pre-

game sustenance.

These lovely Indian ladies buy all their

biscuits from Duffy’s Supermarket... and had flown all the way

from the USA to be at the game

Mep and “Yabba” watch on.

stage, they thought I was Brett

Lee’s brother... there was just a little

rumour going around there... and

they fell for it hook, line and sinker.

A few ladies were watching me

more than the cricket... but they’re

only human.

Other highlights of the tour?

Watching a tour member taking

his time in opening a sauce sachet.

Lowlight of the tour?

Probably

the ferry. We got off at Silverwa-

ter Jail. Should of waited a cou-

ple more stops to Parramatta. Pat

missing the ferry was both a low-

light and a highlight.

What would you do differently

next trip?

Nothing really. I might

not pace myself as much.

Pat Legg

World Cup Semi highlights?

Australia winning. Steve Smith

making his hundred. And the

whole experience. It was awesome.

How was the 80% Indian crowd?

Fanatical. They were so into it from

the very first ball.

Other highlights of the tour?

It was good to see Parramatta

beat Souths. I hate Souths... but

just spending time away with five

mates was great.

Lowlight of the tour?

The car trip

back! And missing the ferry. It was

Craig’s fault. By the time I found

him he was waving to me from the

ferry. Mind you, I did beat them to

Parramatta by an hour and a half.

What would you do differently

next trip?

Get a Lear Jet! Going

down was fine. Coming back was

hard. Everything else was great!

Shane Smith

World Cup Semi highlights?

Australia winning and Steve Smith’s

hundred. The experiece was awe-

some... a privilege to be there for a

World Cup Semi Final.

How was the 80% Indian crowd?

Very passionate which was good.

They were very loud to start with

and very quiet at the end.

Other highlights of the tour?

Going to two NRL games, cruising

down the harbour out to the footy

and just having a few beers with a

very good bunch of blokes.

Lowlight of the tour?

The very

quiet trip on the way home! Two

very sick passengers! It’s hard lis-

tening to the 12th Man by yourself

all the way home!

What would you do differently

next trip?

Probably take my golf

sticks... I was invited for a round at

The Lakes while I was there.

Craig Trindal

L

World Cup Semi highlights?

Steve Smith’s hundred. Just topped

off a magical Summer.

How was the 80% Indian crowd?

Passionate. Dedicated. One lad we

met travelled from New York and

was heading home the next day.

A bit indimidating at the start but

they were very gracious in defeat.

Other highlights of the tour?

The

mighty Eels giving Souths a touch

up. Just the whole mega sports

weekend.

Lowlight of the tour?

Probably

the ferry experience. We lost a

teammate and ended up at Silver-

water Jail minutes before kickoff.

What would you do differently

next trip?

Take more of us down.

Share the love.... Probably take my

wife Jane with me!

Ed- Thanks to Luke Meppem for

organising the trip. Great to be

part of entourage on what was a

fantastic weekend spent with five

fine representatives of Narrabri!
