Endometrial Cancer Workshop at
ANZGOG 2016
Recent publication of the American
Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO)
guidelines, in conjunction with the
American Society of Clinical Oncology
endorsement, and European Society
for Radiotherapy & Oncology (ESTRO)
guidelines, for the management of
endometrial cancer have heralded the
start of a more streamlined approach
to the care of women with high
intermediate and high risk disease.
The half-day workshop was held on
Friday 15 April, as part of the Australia
New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology
Group (ANZGOG) annual scientific
meeting held in Sydney. Professor
Anuja Jhingran of the MD Anderson
Cancer Center, Houston USA, opened
the workshop by providing the
framework of both the ASTRO and
ESTRO guidelines. The workshop
was well attended by members of
Gynaecological Oncology Radiation
Oncology Collaboration (GOROC)
and other important stakeholders who
are involved in the management of
endometrial cancer. GOROC members
discussed and voted on the endometrial
cancer guidelines, and will forward
the draft guidelines to a wider gynae-
oncology community for comments. The
aim of the evidence-based guidelines is
to be adopted as standard practice in
Australasia.
GOROC Meeting
GOROC members also had their second
face-to-face meeting, and commenced
discussion and work on the Image-
Guided Cervix Cancer Brachytherapy
Guidelines.
