the College to support the specialties of
clinical radiology and radiation oncology
in Australia and New Zealand. They define
the standards of training and practice that
guide the provision of quality and safe
patient care. The documents are reviewed
regularly to ensure they reflect best
practice. The College also releases major

governments, healthcare organisations

Quality Guidelines for Volume
Delineation in Radiation Oncology
Minimising variation in target volume
delineation is an important quality
standard in the delivery of radiation
therapy. The aim of this document is
to provide consensus guidelines on
measures that can be undertaken by
radiation oncologists, trainees and
radiation oncology departments to
achieve this aim. (See article page 25 for
more information on these guidelines)
Position Paper on Particle Therapy
This document aims to inform cancer
professionals, health professionals,
health administrators, consumers and
interested individuals about the current
status of particle therapy internationally,
the evidence for their use and the target
population.
Position Statement on the Provision
of Ultrasound Guided Injections
It is The Royal Australian and New
Zealand College of Radiologists’
(RANZCR) position that ultrasound
guided injections are a medical
intervention that can only be performed
by a medical practitioner.
