MARKET UPDATE WHY DOES EVERYONE SELL IN SPRING? Typically, there have always been more buyers in the marketplace in spring when the weather is warmer, and the days start to get longer. Even during the pandemic last year, October had the highest number of listings in 2020. Most commonly sellers like to hold off on selling until spring because it is when they feel their property and gardens will look their best, leading to the property attracting more interested buyers to drive the price up. This thought process makes a lot of sense from a seller’s perspective however there are no certainties in the property market. Take the last 20 months for example, respected commentators and banks forecasted prices to crash by 30-40%, the prices actually increased by 20% after our first lockdown and many properties achieved suburb records across the Hills. Now amidst our second lock down in Sydney these commentators have held back their forecasts as we all now know, anything can happen.
