Allan and Sonia Bennett, who live with their two young daughters, have owned the three bedroom home for nine years. Allan says the friendliness of the neighbours is something they have always appreciated. “The best thing about living here is the people,” he says. A Baal Street group chat organises regular street meet-ups, where the adults catch up and relax and the kids play. The Bennetts bought the cottage, thought to have been built in the 1950s, in 2012. “We liked the block size for a subdivided block – it’s 607sqm with lovely gardens,” says Sonia. But they were slightly less enthused about the home’s former interior scheme. “Every room was painted a different colour,” laughs Sonia.
