Organisational Structure Sea Mercy president and founder Richard Hackett brings 30 years of experience working in Fortune 500 companies as a private business owner and entrepreneur. He has also over 10 years' experience of not for profit development and management. Sea Mercy is a registered 501(c)3 charity in the USA, based in Oregon. Sea Mercy Fiji (a locally approved charity) was established in Port Denarau Marina to operate as the fleet operations base following Cyclone Winston in 2016. Sea Mercy Fiji continues to operate from Port Denarau, providing infrastructure and logistical support to Sea Mercy operations in the region. Sea Mercy Australia was established in December 2017 with registered charity and tax deductible status granted. It is the newest arm of the organisation and operates with robust accountability and legal structures under Australian legislation. Sea Mercy Australia is geographically and strategically positioned to benefit from existing good will, governmental ties, and trade relationships between Australia and its South Pacific neighbours, boosting the charity's ability to deliver quality programs in ever increasing volumes.
