CAST CONTINUED JON MURPHY Scab, ensemble Jon studied at the Newcastle Conservatorium, receiving a Bachelor of Music in Classical Singing and Musical Performance. Throughout this year, Jon has performed in local pubs and cafes. His theatre credits include playing Frankie Valli Understudy in Jersey Boys (The Very Popular Theatre Company), Les Miserable (Metropolitan Players), 9 to 5 (Theatre on Brunker), Company (Chookas Entertainment), Emmett in Legally Blonde (Theatre on Brunker), Peter in Jesus Christ Superstar (Atwea College) and Best of the Best (Theatre on Brunker). GUILHERME NORONHA Big Davey, ensemble Guilherme has been active and committed to the theatre communities of Newcastle, Maitland and Sydney for more than 25 years in more than 50 productions. Guil’s experience and training in a diverse range of theatrical and dramatic forms spans from opera, musical theatre, dramatic theatre, physical theatre, circus, improvisation, commedia dell’ arte, street theatre and screen acting. Guil acts, directs, sings, teaches, designs and builds set. He studied at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney for 3 years and is a classically trained tenor/baritone. Guil received a City of Newcastle Dramatic Award for his set design and co-direction of The Diary of Anne Frank at Maitland Repertory Theatre in 2017. Guil made his debut for The Very Popular Theatre Company earlier this year in Banging Denmark. BENJAMIN OBST Older Billy Benjamin was born in Adelaide and then trained with The New Zealand School of Dance, this included a scholarship to Canada’s National Ballet School. He has danced professionally for The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Victorian State Ballet and West Australian Ballet. He has guested in two galas in Indonesia and Japan. Most recently, he danced with The Australian Ballet, which included principal roles in Storytime Ballets. He also performed in their musical An American in Paris, taught workshops for students and adults, and toured the country. Billy Elliot the Musical is Benjamin’s debut with The Very Popular Theatre Company. ISABELLA ROBERTS Ballet Girl Isabella was born with dancing shoes on. With her Grandmother having had a dance studio in South Africa and now her Aunty having one in Sydney, dancing is most definitely in her blood. She has trained in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary/lyrical, acro, and musical theatre, making her a well rounded and versatile performer. Isabella has excelled in every ballet exam, having received Honors/ Distinction from Pre-Primary to Grade 4, giving her a strong foundation of technique. At her previous dance school in Sydney, she was awarded the dancer with the most potential by an esteemed third party adjudicator at the end of year concert. With her family moving to the Hunter region, Isabella enrolled at National College Of Dance in 2022, where she is a valuable member of the U10s and U12s Eisteddfod troupes in all genres. Billy Elliot the Musical is Isabella’s debut with The Very Popular Theatre Company. ISLA MOSTYN Ballet Girl Isla has loved the world of dance since the age of 2. For the past 8 years, she has twirled and tapped through life at Studi-O Dance School. Isla enjoys sharing her passion for this artform with everyone around her, and nothing makes her happier than being on stage. Isla loves being able to show her personality through dance and performing; with tap dancing holding a very special place in her heart. She has performed in Charlton Christian College’s musical productions of Disney’s The Little Mermaid and The Sound of Music. Billy Elliot the Musical is Isla’s debut with The Very Popular Theatre Company. 32
