Most men, however, who read what I am about to say, even if they have never been able to formulate it for themselves, will know instinctively that it is true. Both these topics have to do with something mentioned earlier when I wrote of the way men are attracted to women. To use a modern expression taken from the computer world, men and women are “hardwired” differently, because in God’s plan they are meant to fulfil specific and complementary roles. Man is the primary driver in the procreative act, and after he has shared his seed with his wife and new life is conceived, he must be the provider of the family and head of the household, which means going out and working in order to promote the family’s interests. Woman receives her husband’s initiative and becomes the vessel of new life, which she then nurtures with love and delicate attention, becoming the living heart of the home. She alone can do this. That is God’s beautiful and wise plan for family life.
