My Daughter, I have been thinking of you since my last letter, and on this day of Our Lord’s birth of the Virgin, wanted to send you a follow up letter of encouragement. You are no doubt wondering at this stage how you will have the strength to put into practice all the things we have discussed. Even more, you will be trying to figure out how to influence other women, many of whom are, so it seems, in another universe when it comes to modesty. You may be tempted to think we are fighting a lost battle, that the Pandora’s box has been opened and there is nothing we can do to close it, that we are being helplessly swept away by a merciless current. Well, remember that only what’s dead flows with the current. Remember also this: “Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little”.51 By dressing modestly yourself, you may seem to be doing little, but it is little by little that we will restore Christian morals. Besides, we have a lot more going for us than they do. True, the spirit of evil has succeeded in persuading too many women that they can dress and undress as they please (“my body, my choice!” goes the slogan). There is, however, a growing number of women – and the media does not give them much attention – who, like you, have come to know the truth, and sincerely want to be part of the rebuilding of a truly Christian society, which has as one of its essential foundation stones the recovery of Christian modesty in churches, in the home, at schools, in the workplace, on the street, at the gym, on the beaches –everywhere. 25 December 2023 Christmas Day Up with us then at last, for the Scripture arouseth us, saying: It is now the hour for us to rise from sleep (Rom 13:11).
