2025 Luminosity Youth Summit 4 Uncle Bill O’Brien is the Chairperson of the Birpai Local Aboriginal Land Council. Uncle Bill grew up on the coast near Port Macquarie and had a long career as a professional jockey. More recently, Uncle Bill’s life revolves around volunteering, sharing culture and knowledge throughout his community. Uncle Bill was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his contribution and service to his Aboriginal community. In 2019 he was awarded the Order of the Companion of the University conferred by Charles Sturt University in recognition of exceptional achievement and service.
