LIBERATING EDUCATION 101 ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE STRATHFIELD LUMEN 2024 PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PDHPE) Mr D Chase Head of PDHPE It has been another fantastic year for the PDHPE students across Years 5–12 at the College. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm the boys showed towards this subject throughout the school year. We have seen the boys excel not just in the theory component of the course but also in the practical components, particularly in the variety of activities they have been involved in over the year. The range of activities the boys have participated in has been both wide and varied. Students in Stages 3 to 5 completed the swimming program, Year 9 students engaged in social dance, and Year 9 PASS and Year 11 SLR students honed their coaching skills and explored various sports. Additionally, over 75 boys achieved their First Aid certificate in Year 11 PDHPE, which is studied as part of the senior course and is an invaluable life skill. Lifelong skills are at the core of what we teach across the curriculum. Students in all year groups have had the opportunity to develop their theoretical and practical skills, helping them gain confidence to apply these skills both on the sporting field and in life’s everyday situations. The students are very fortunate to be mentored by a highly passionate, knowledgeable, and committed group of teachers. To Mr Biviano, Mr Pais, Mr Fox, Mr Locke, Ms Treweeke, Mr Dunne, Mr Boggs, Mr Mifsud, Mr O’Halloran, Mr Rowlings, Ms Cooper, and Mr Barry—thank you for all your efforts during 2024.
