22 The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural and Health Training Framework The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural and Health Training Framework is underpinned by twelve guiding principles. These principles have been identified by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members of the Framework Steering Committee and are supported by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led research. These principles provide focus and direction, and a way of working together. The principles are mutually reinforcing and help to provide a way to navigate complex and dynamic areas of work. The principles are not prescriptive in how they are applied, as they can respond to circumstances, overlap, and evolve. This enables them to be situationally interpreted and locally contextualised.
