Council has developed a Project Framework to systematically approach the development of the Airport Masterplan which will enhance economic opportunities within the region. The first step associated with this project is to undertake a comprehensive community survey to understand the community’s support for the project. This survey is expected to be finalised by end of 2021 and will determine the project’s future. Following the community consultation, Council will be reviewing development options for the Masterplan with one option selected for concept development with a future view of undertaking an Expressions of Interest to gauge interested user groups. Concurrently, Council is negotiating a land swap with the Central Coast Aero Club as well as negotiating a 45-year licence for the Aero Club to utilise the landing strip. The land swap will enable Council to relocate the Aero Club to a mutually agreed location which will enable widening of the landing strip and taxi ways enabling greater Masterplan design outcomes.
