Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service Limited ANNUAL REPORT 2024/2025 34 Funded by: Federal Dept of Social Services – National Indigenous Australians Agency NSW Health – Rural Doctors Network – Western NSW Primary Health Network Celebrating over 39 years of Service since 1986 The Arts Register is slowly progressing with information collated from our existing pieces of art, photography, craft works and objects of cultural and historical significance. With nearly forty years worth of cataloguing it shall be an ongoing activity for some time. WAMS appreciate the guidance of Terri Janke and Company for their advice on Intellectual Property (IP) and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP), ensuring we are protecting both our own works, as well as the works of artists who have allowed us to display their hand-made, hand-crafted works. The promotion of our work is advertised through many mediums including phone messaging, external regional radio, signboard displays to the public, and social media. This has allowed promotion and information on our internal activities, our external connections with other agencies as well as profiling any changes and/or update to our daily whereabouts. WAMS recognise the generosity of the advertising supplied by the Walgett Spectator. Jo Coleman is a strong advocate for our business, who is often available to capture the many important milestones in our work. Walgett has its moments with negative publicity. Jo always counteracts with the positive achievements of our town, our rural sector. Sincere thank you to Jo. Community Events/Health Promotion Programs A vast range of events were held across our service area. We make every attempt to represent the business, to showcase programs and present potential career and workforce opportunities. Listed are some of the events we attend, programs supported as well as regular scheduled local business meetings that we are involved with as part of our ongoing commitment and our vested interest in environmental, educational and community outcomes. Some of the events were postponed and rescheduled. WAMS partly sponsored the ‘Bluey and Bingo” children’s show. Bluey was kind enough to come to Walgett and perform at the local RSL, meet the children and oblige with having photos taken. Thank you, Bluey and Bingo, for bringing smiles to the children and their families.
